#13- Season 13- California
This season seemed stale from Episode 1. Given many of the chef's were talented. Yet most lacked personality and some seemed quite fake. Richard Blais as a judge is getting old really fast and feels unnecessary at best. The new title cards even seemed cheesy. Of course Last Chance Kitchen was again used this season (which I have never been a fan of) to extreme advantage to Amar who made it to the finale.
Should have won - Jeremy
Did Win - Jeremy
The sad part about the New Orleans season is that it was quite a good season. Interesting chef's, challenges, and locations. What kills this entire season is the finale. How in God's name Nicholas won after his temper tantrum in the kitchen had many people in shock. Not to mention he wasn't even one of the frontrunners for the majority of the season. It was unbelievable in a bad way the judgement named him Top Chef a stain that luckily would be gone the following Seasons.
Should have won- Nina
Did Win- Nicholas
In all fairness the first season is actually quite fun. Compared to the other seasons the talented chef's are limited. Over half the season is spent with so so çhefs battling 5 that are really good. Not to mention Katie Lee Joels only season to host (Thank God).
Should Have Won- Harold
Did Win- Harold
#10- Season 9- Texas
The season that started with eliminating half the chef's in the first 2 episodes. Also the season that started Last Chance Kitchen. From Southfork Ranch to The Alamo we got to hear Lindsey and Sarah bitch and whine. Yes we got it you hate Beverly. Other chef's were extremely talented and interesting such as Grayson, Paul, Nyesha, and Malibu Chris. BBQ crazy Season.
Should have won- Paul
Did Win- Paul
Where's My Pea Puree??? Quite possibly the most controversial moment of the entire series. Some of the challenges were goofy (space food) but somehow the cast kept it interesting. Probably not the most talented of chef's in the later Seasons but they were damn fun to watch.
Should have won- Ed
Did Win- Kevin
This season was disappointing mainly due to it was pretty obvious a few episodes in who the winner would be. Although it showcased interesting challenges and chef's such as Casey, Dale, Tre, C.J, and Howie. Some of Gail Simmons comments at Judges table are hilarious this season as well.
Should have won- Hung
Did Win- Hung
After almost losing all hope from the awful finale of the 11th season came a fun filled exciting season again. Competition enthusiastic chef's as well as interesting personalities kept this season strong. It all started with a Sudden Death quickfire. From Cheers Bar to French inspiration. Doug, Stacey, Melissa and the rest of the chef's made this season a fun one.
Should have won- Gregory
Did Win- Mai
This is a lot of fans favorite season. I can understand why it is enjoyable from start to finish. The reason I hold it lower I think some of the chef's skated by. As some of the food looked kinda iffy. After repeat viewings this season like most things in Las Vegas seemed fixed. The Brothers both in the finale, Robin making it as far as she did, Eli's horrid looking Circus dish. I also noticed the season for Weaker about half way threw. Also the majority of the quickly eliminated chef's were annoying Eve, Pretti, Ashley were just uhhh boring. The challenges were great and the high stakes challenges were at there best in this season.
Should have won- Michael V.
Did Win- Michael V.
#5- Season 10- Seattle
This was a odd but fun little season where along with the chef's to complete their were past chef's competing as well. Josie outwore her welcome with the fans and the viewers. Ultimately this season will be remembered for sweet revenge for Kristen. It should also be noted that this season had the best finale episode. The fried chicken episode along with a few others were duds, but fun with the chef's galore.
Should have won- Kristen or Brooke
Did Win- Kristen
#4- Season 4- Chicago
By the time season 4 came around Top Chef was a well known competition reality show. It also had probably the most interesting and conflicting personalities of the series. Also it should be noted Richard Blais made his Chef debut in this season and ran strong until he choked in the finale. Antonia, Dale, Spike all make this season fun and calculated. The confrontation by Lisa and everyone in the show is classic.
Should have won- Stephanie
Did Win- Stephanie
#3- Season 5- New York
Top Chef took on the Big Apple for an amazing season. Hootie Hoo!!! The challenges were extremely fun to watch as well as the judging. Martha Stewart made an appearance as a guest judge. Fabio & Stefan were comic central. Carla was the spunky cutey on the show ever. All with a hint of betrayal of a drunken kiss.
Should have won- Stefan
Did Win- Hosea
#2- Season 8- All Stars
Take the best of the chef's that didn't win and you get the most competitive Season of great chef's. Taking place in New York again. Jennifer Carroll is not to be missed in Episode 2. The black hammer continued her curse. Technically this is the best season. I just enjoy one season more. Also I have to wonder if Richard winning this season was fixed so he could be a judge in later Seasons.
Should have won- Mike
Did Win- Richard
#1- Season 2- Los Angeles
Padmas hosting debut season. This group couldn't decide if they liked one another or not. Backstabbing left and right, Everyone hated Marcel, and head shaving fun. The show also found better production the second time around. Ella, Sam, Illan, Michael, & Betty make this season great. The challenges were simple but effective. The two part Hawaiian finale. Makes this the Best Season of Top Chef
On a final note I really think the stew room should be brought back. This Judges table with all of them in the room. You lose the suspense the chef's are feeling.
Also less Richard Blais More Gail Simmons.
